It was so good (it earned the “Approved” award) that it stayed as a part of the chassis test suite. The previous product of this type (air cooler) covered was the AS500, tested back at the end of 2020. The AK400 is from the same family as the AK620 (a dual-tower cooler). Today, we are reviewing an air cooler from Deepcool it’s an AK400. It's easily tagged as a high-end performing air-cooler with low nois. This dual fan-based CPU cooler absolutely impresses in looks, features as well as performance. Let’s check what this AIO has to offer besides the leak-proof technology and customizable logo. You receive 3 years of warranty, which is above the average on the market. The MSRP is 119 USD for the 240 mm version. The radiator has aluminum fins instead of copper ones, which would have allowed for faster heat transfer (but it also costs significantly more). The radiator is of standard size, namely 28.2 cm in length for the 240 mm model, with 2.7 cm in thickness and 10.5 cm in width. With addressable LEDs, the unit is still among the best-looking ones on the market.
The top section of the pump has a mirror-like finish (when the lights are turned off) and a rim made of a silver-colored plastic. The pump is again huge and stands 71 mm tall. The block is big enough to support the AMD TR4 socket without any adjustments needed. From the technical point of view, the products look very similar to, for example, the Deepcool Castle 240 RGB, which we reviewed back in September 2018. The Castle 240EX supports all major motherboard RGB systems, such as Asus Aura, as well as manual control via the included RGB controller.
The EX has skipped additional RGB accessories, and instead opted for a pair of four-pin TF120S PWM fans capable of moving up to 64.4 cubic feet of air per minute, with speeds ranging from 500 to 1,800 RPM
The castle 240EX uses a very popular All-in-One formula, with a radiator, pump, and fans (2 x120 mm in this case) that are coupled into a single, closed-loop. Of course, there’s some RGB here (but only on the pump, not the fans), and what is new, is the option to customize the logo. The technology helps the system achieve an automated pressure balance, which will significantly improve operation safety of AIO liquid cooling systems.
